Position Summary The Associate Director, Portfolio Governance will serve as a strategic individual contributor within the Enterprise PMO and Agile Delivery organization. This role is responsible for driving portfolio governance, managing resource capacity planning, and producing executive-level reporting to support informed decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of project governance frameworks, and the ability to influence resource leaders without direct authority.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead portfolio governance activities across strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise delivery standards and prioritization frameworks.

Manage and maintain resource capacity planning model in concert with resource leaders and project managers.

Develop and maintain executive dashboards and reporting packages using tools such as Power BI, Monday.com, and Confluence.

Partner with PMs and resource managers to identify gaps in governance adherence and recommend corrective actions.

Use Jira and Monday.com to track project health, milestone status, and resource alignment across the portfolio.

Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on portfolio trends, risks, and performance metrics.

Support the EPMO in maturing governance practices and embedding accountability across delivery teams.

Required Experience

15+ years of experience in project governance, PMO operations, or enterprise portfolio management or similar role, preferably in financial services, auto finance, or a customer-facing industry.

Strong working knowledge of Jira, AzureDevOps, Monday.com, and Power BI.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Proven ability to influence without direct authority in a matrixed environment.

Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Must have certifications in both traditional project delivery (ex. PMI PMP), and agile delivery (ex. CSM, PSM, SAFe SM, etc.)

Skills Required

Ability to apply governance frameworks across diverse projects.

Skilled in enforcing stage gate processes, risk reviews, and compliance checkpoints.

Analytical and Reporting Skills

Proficient in synthesizing data into executive-level dashboards and reports.

Experience using tools like Power BI, Jira, and Monday.com to track performance and trends.

Strategic Thinking

Understands how project governance supports broader business goals.

Capable of aligning governance practices with enterprise priorities.

Communication and Influence

Strong written and verbal communication skills for executive reporting.

Able to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.

Process Improvement Orientation

Identifies gaps in governance adherence and recommends improvements.

Promotes consistency and accountability across delivery teams.

Hands‑on experience with Jira, Confluence, Monday.com, and Power BI.

Comfortable navigating project tracking and collaboration platforms.

Business Acumen

Understands how governance impacts delivery efficiency and stakeholder confidence.

Applies judgment to balance compliance with agility.

Travel 0-10% - as required on an as needed basis.

Must have reliable transportation and live within a commutable distance to one of the following cities: Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; Detroit, MI; Houston, TX; Phoenix, AZ.

Work Schedule This position requires the ability to work various shifts to accommodate business needs. Typically, between the hours of 8AM-6PM Monday through Friday and on weekends as needed. Travel is required 10% of the time.
