Job Overview
Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an experienced Operations Engineer to work at our Littleton, CO site.
This role focuses on leading continuous improvement initiatives, streamlining processes, reducing cycle times, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
Job Functions/Responsibilities
Drive a strategic cross‑functional continuous improvement organization within Performance Excellence and Performance Management Teams (PMT), consisting of program and multi‑functional organizations focused on improving efficiencies and cost reduction.
Work across Operations and the Space Enterprise to define projects, assess business impacts, ROI, communication, and closure of initiatives, and drive metrics for measuring business improvements using Lean Six Sigma methodologies and business process management principles.
Roll out and sustain the Focused Leader Excellence Management Operating System.
Engage continuous improvement team members across the Space business area to foster transformation; coordinate appropriate human and operational resources with leadership.
Track status of all impacting projects, provide visibility to management in a consistent manner, and introduce credible methods to improve clarity and effectiveness.
Report to the Performance Excellence Sr. Manager.
Drive 6S/Visual Factory training, maintenance, materials, tools, improvements, and resources.
Facilitate and participate in ongoing improvement projects involving 6S, Safety, etc.
Coordinate with leadership to implement projects, sustain/analyze, and create actionable plans for improvement.
Travel average of 10% or less.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
Demonstrated understanding of process improvement techniques and experience implementing change within an organization.
Demonstrated success in leading teams, implementing change (change management), and process improvements.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Analytical mindset and proven ability to develop business cases (e.g., ROI).
Desired Skills
Bachelor’s degree related to manufacturing, engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related technical field (preferred).
Experience with Lockheed Martin Performance Management Teams (PMTs) and Management Operating System implementation.
Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, or Master Black Belt.
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Project management experience.
Ability to drive results and be action‑oriented in a change environment.
Experience in technical data management.
Strong project management and organization skills.
Ability to multi‑task and adapt well to fast‑paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.

The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $95,000 - $167,440. For states not referenced above, the salary range will reflect the candidate’s final work location.
