
Social Media Specialist

Overview The Social Media Specialist will support the development and growth of a social media presence for the Center for Employment and Inclusion at the Institute for Disability Research, Policy, and Practice. This role is responsible for creating, curating, and managing content that promotes awareness, engagement, and impact across key audiences, including individuals with disabilities, employers, researchers, policymakers, and community partners.
This position is telework-eligible within the state of Utah.
Responsibilities Develop and implement a social media strategy aligned with organizational goals and priorities.
Create, schedule, and publish engaging content across platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram).
Collaborate with staff to highlight programs, research, events, and success stories.
Ensure content reflects accessibility best practices (e.g., alt text, captioning, inclusive language).
Monitor social media channels, respond to comments/messages as appropriate, and foster community engagement.
Stay current on social media trends, tools, and best practices, particularly related to accessibility and inclusion.
Maintain brand voice and consistency across both organizations.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Experience with social media accounts.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong storytelling skills.
Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive communication practices preferred.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
Interest in or knowledge of disability inclusion, employment, or public policy is a plus.
