
BereaCorps Marketing and Communications Associate

Overview The Marketing and Communications Associate supports the Marketing and Communications department by creating and maintaining visual content for print and digital platforms and contributing to content development across channels. This position contributes to achieving Berea College's marketing goals by delivering high-quality design work that aligns with the College's brand standards and crafting well‑written pieces that effectively communicate the College's mission and stories to a variety of audiences.
Key Responsibilities Develop creative designs for a variety of print and digital platforms, including brochures, social media graphics, advertisements, newsletters, event materials, and other digital and print assets.
Assist in producing and formatting design projects to ensure consistency with Berea College’s brand guidelines.
Utilize Adobe Creative Suite and other design tools to create original graphics and visual elements.
Assist in maintaining and organizing a library of digital assets, including illustrations and templates.
Prepare final files for print production and/or digital publication, ensuring all technical specifications are met.
Assist in content creation and management initiatives, gathering information from students and faculty to inform messaging across platforms.
Collaborate with writers, photographers, and other team members to develop and refine marketing collateral.
Utilize web publishing tools to manage online content, including text, images, video, and documents.
Other Duties Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty and students.
Education Required Bachelor’s degree from Berea College in marketing, communications, public relations or a related field within the last 2 years.
Experience Required Minimum of one (1) year of professional or internship experience in graphic design, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in creating designs that effectively communicate ideas to target audiences.
Familiarity with preparing files for both digital and print platforms.
Experience with project management in a collaborative setting is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to develop written content for internal and external audiences.
Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Understanding and appreciation for Berea College’s mission, including the Great Commitments and the role of philanthropy in supporting the College’s goals.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant design tools.
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a creative team and with campus and community partners.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge and understanding of AP style for magazines and websites.
Creative problem‑solving skills with a focus on innovation and efficiency.
License, Certification, or Registration Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Physical Requirements Ability to maneuver around campus and campus buildings.
Ability to sit at a computer for long periods.
Environmental Conditions Office setting and outdoors.
Ability to Operate Vehicles or Equipment Ability to maneuver around campus and campus buildings.

Supplemental Information BereaCorps positions are grant‑funded, one‑year contract positions from June 1, 2026 – May 31, 2027, with the possibility of a one‑year extension. This position is only available to 2025 and May 2026 Berea College graduates that have completed all of their coursework by May 2026.
