About the Role
The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for developing and executing account strategies that drive specification and adoption of advanced commercial roofing solutions across cold storage and temperature‑controlled facilities. This role focuses on building deep relationships with major owners, developers, design firms, and contractors involved in cold chain infrastructure—ensuring roofing systems meet stringent thermal performance, moisture control, and durability requirements.

Cold storage facilities present unique challenges around moisture, insulation, and long‑term performance. This role ensures roofing systems are properly specified and executed to protect critical assets, maintain energy efficiency, and support the integrity of temperature‑sensitive supply chains.
What You’ll Accomplish
Strategic Account Development
Identify, prioritize, and manage key national and regional accounts involved in cold storage development (food distribution, refrigerated warehousing, grocery, pharma logistics).
Develop and execute multi‑year account plans targeting owners, developers, and specialized cold storage design/specification firms.
Map decision‑makers across operations, engineering, and capital project teams within target accounts.
Specification & Pre‑Construction Engagement
Drive roofing system specifications through early engagement with architects, consultants, refrigeration engineers, and envelope specialists.
Provide technical expertise on roofing assemblies designed for vapor control, thermal efficiency, and condensation prevention.
Collaborate with internal technical teams to deliver tailored solutions for demanding temperature‑controlled environments.
Relationship Management
Build and maintain high‑level relationships with cold storage owners and operators, developers and design‑build firms, architects, engineers, and envelope consultants, and general contractors specializing in cold storage construction.
Serve as a trusted advisor on roofing system performance in high‑humidity, low‑temperature environments.
Market Intelligence & Positioning
Monitor trends in cold chain logistics, food safety regulations, and energy efficiency requirements.
Provide feedback to product development and leadership on emerging needs such as insulation performance, air/vapor barriers, and sustainability.
Represent the company at industry events and trade associations related to cold storage and food logistics.
Sales Execution
Drive revenue growth through specification wins and project conversions within strategic accounts.
Track project pipelines from concept through construction and commissioning.
Coordinate with regional sales teams and approved contractors to ensure successful project execution.
Internal Collaboration
Partner with marketing, product management, and technical services to develop targeted messaging for cold storage applications.
Support training initiatives for internal teams and external partners on roofing solutions specific to temperature‑controlled facilities.
What We’re Looking For
Experience
5–10+ years of experience in commercial roofing, building envelope, or construction materials.
Proven track record in strategic account management or specification sales.
Experience with cold storage, refrigerated facilities, or food/pharma logistics strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of roofing systems with emphasis on insulation, vapor barriers, and condensation control.
Technical aptitude with the ability to influence design and specification decisions.
Excellent relationship‑building and executive communication skills.
Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and long‑cycle sales management capability.
Ability to navigate complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and technical requirements.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management, or related field preferred.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Specification wins within target cold storage accounts.
Revenue growth from strategic accounts.
Pipeline development and conversion rates.
Depth of relationships within key accounts.
Market share growth in the cold storage segment.
Travel Requirements
30–60% travel depending on account base and project activity.
