Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Communications or related field required.
Minimum five or more years of communications, employee engagement, or organizational development experience. Additional years of relevant experience can be substituted for the education requirement on a year‑for‑year basis.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Excellent relationship‑building and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to respond appropriately to confidential and sensitive issues.
Ability to synthesize multiple perspectives into clear, concise, engaging messages for diverse audiences.
Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated creative writing, basic layout, and design skills.
Basic knowledge of programs equivalent to Adobe Photo Suite or InDesign.
Basic video editing preferred.
Superior business writing, editing, and proofreading skills for digital and print; working knowledge and application of AP style with ability to compose messaging in conversational style.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat.
Ability to understand and execute on graphic design and organizational communication concepts.

Responsibilities
Contributes to the development of the internal communication and engagement strategy; consults with leaders at all levels to craft and deliver timely, effective, and meaningful communication plans; writes and edits stories, e‑bulletin features, profiles, measures and evaluates communications to support Brookdale Senior Living's strategic goals, associate engagement, mission and culture.
Acts as the communications partner for multiple functional areas' initiatives. Collaborates with executive, senior and functional leaders to create, manage and implement communication plans that fully engage associates to support Brookdale's business strategies and goals, mission, and culture. Partners with leadership at multiple levels in identifying opportunities to improve associate engagement, company performance, cohesion and culture related to assigned projects and initiatives. Supports the company intranet with story content and content management. Develops and maintains an editorial calendar that maps communications projects, initiatives and recurring themes for each major function they support. Identifies communication gaps, develops clear, concise messages and content and uses appropriate vehicles to support initiatives. Executes strategic communication projects with key stakeholders and executives in cross‑functional areas. Successfully produces user‑friendly communications for complex programs to meet the needs of varied audience segments. Supports large‑scale associate meetings (including Zoom), company events, charitable events and activities, and company‑wide giving projects.
