Assistant Editor

One of Northern Virginia's leading media companies is seeking a part‑time assistant editor to help guide our award‑winning, high‑end publication, Ashburn Magazine. The assistant editor will work closely with our founding editor on numerous elements of the magazine’s content and production. Responsibilities Develop content ideas. Oversee and generate content for the "Around Ashburn" section. Write additional in‑depth feature articles as required. Help manage the production process, including obtaining photographs, writing cutlines, and proofreading pages. Post content to the magazine’s website and social media pages. Manage scheduling and availability during production week (business hours), while generally having flexible hours during non‑production periods. Qualifications Experience in local journalism or magazine journalism, either as an editor or writer. Must live in or near the Ashburn area of Loudoun County or be intimately familiar with that community. No generic lifestyle magazine experience; this is a magazine about the people and businesses specifically in Ashburn. Work arrangement Part‑time, work‑from‑home.
