
Court Clerk - Superior Court

Whatcom County is currently recruiting for a Court Clerk in Superior Court.
Court Clerks are relied upon by Judges, Commissioners, and the public as a key role in all Court proceedings. Superior Court involves civil cases, adult felonies, all juvenile offenses, divorce, child custody, support matters, probate, guardianship, adoptions, paternity actions, mental incompetency, and abused or neglected children. The position also provides essential clerical support and customer service. Court Clerks work in courtrooms (including in the Jail) and in the office to accurately record and enter all records from a high volume of cases. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, distracting environment and have excellent skills working with others.

Monday - Friday 8 AM - 5 PM Salary
Salary Range: $21.60 - $32.75 MCBA- Range 108.0 Hiring rate depends on qualifications. This position receives annual pay increases to the next step in the associated salary range (approx. 3.8%) subject to satisfactory performance, in addition to any negotiated Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA). We are required by State Law to list the full salary range. As a public entity and in a union-covered position, we are required to make pay decisions based on experience, qualifications, and equity with other employees. Hiring rate typically is limited to entry to mid of the posted salary range, subject to required approvals. Responsibilities
Accurately record and enter all records from a high volume of cases. Provide essential clerical support and customer service in courtrooms and office settings. Work in a fast-paced, distracting environment while coordinating with Judges, Commissioners, and the public. Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalency AND three years of progressively responsible general office, secretarial and/or clerical experience. Experience with court or legal procedures is strongly preferred. Special Requirements
Required to take the oath of Deputy Clerk. Reviews all applicable cash handling policies. Must pass job-related tests. At its sole discretion, Whatcom County may consider combinations of education, experience, certifications, and training in lieu of specifically required qualifications contained herein.
