
Laborer - Navy Marine Golf Course (Maintenance)

Overview
This position is assigned to the Non‑Appropriated Fund (NAF) Sports & Fitness (N921) Branch; Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Recreational Fleet and Family Readiness Support Services (N94); Commander, Navy Region Hawaii, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam (JBPHH), Honolulu, HI. The purpose of the role is to provide labor assistance to the Navy Marine Golf Course – Maintenance.
Responsibilities Performs one or more of the following duties:
Uses heavy power mowers, adjusts blades, cleans and oils mowers.
Cuts trees using ax or chain saw.
Digs ditches and trenches with pick and shovel; grades and slopes.
Breaks up pavement with jackhammer for short periods.
Mixes and pours concrete, asphalt, hot mix; fills and levels boles in damaged roads.
Performs other related duties as required.
Conditions of Employment
Must pass all applicable records and background checks.
Must successfully pass the E‑Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
Qualifications A qualified candidate must possess the following:
Ability to operate, control, and clean heavy power equipment and work safely with heavy tools.
Ability to provide continual care and attention, avoiding accidents and completing work correctly.
Prior job experience or on‑the‑job training to demonstrate mastery of assignments involving multiple tasks or processes that require remembering directions and sequences.
Ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision.
Physical Effort and Working Conditions Exerts heavy physical effort: frequently lifting and moving objects weighing over 50 lbs., running power mowers on grades or pushing heavy wheelbarrow loads of cement, etc.
Work indoors may expose the worker to drafts, noise, dust, and dirt, requiring standing on concrete floors for long periods. Outdoor work is performed in all types of weather. Protective gear must be worn at all times.
Education This position does not have a positive education requirement.
Additional Information Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.
