Our
European banking client
is looking for an experienced professional working in
corporate banking as a relationship manager . This person will ideally have experience covering
insurance groups .
Position Summary: The primary responsibility will be covering Insurance groups (including subsidiaries) operating in North America (“NA”) and Bermuda. Responsibilities include acting as Global RM for insurance groups headquartered in the region and operating globally (ie “Outbound” insurance) and as Local RM for foreign based insurance groups with subsidiaries operating in the region (ie “Inbound” insurance). The RM will also provide backup support to non-insurance clients within NBFI NY’s coverage mandate that includes financial sponsors, asset managers, hedge funds, broker-dealers, leasing, credit card and finance companies.
This individual will work closely with the current Insurance RM and gradually take full responsibility for developing and managing insurance client relationships. The role will focus on strengthening the bank’s strategic and operational engagement while driving profitability with insurance clients, all in alignment with the bank’s established risk parameters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Market the bank’s regional and global products and services to clients by working closely with product specialists to align the bank’s capabilities with client’s needs
Organize and facilitate our product offering, including Lending, Capital Markets (bonds), Structured Solutions (repo), Investments, FX & IR hedging, Asset Finance, Trade Finance and Cash Management
Maintain strategic dialogue with the client while developing an awareness and understanding of their business and global banking needs.
Contribute to the development of market analyses and client pitch books in collaboration with Product Partners.
Write summary notes after client meetings. Distribute and follow-up with client and internal stakeholders.
Work closely with Credit Officers to ensure any new and/or existing clients remain within the bank’s risk guidelines.
Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the preparation of “new business” submissions and “Credit Applications”
Work closely with product partners on market analyses as well as determining client opportunities
Build in-depth knowledge across the insurance sector by engaging with other NBFI RMs, Product Specialists, while working closely with clients and industry specialists. Continuing education includes reading industry research, client related reports, as well as attending industry conferences, while developing understanding of industry issues, trends, etc.
Collaborate with internal counsel and stakeholders to manage legal documentation for transactions.
Monitor and report on the P&L of your client portfolio
Manage AML/KYC for new and existing clients for any changes and maintenance across all products
Miscellaneous responsibilities as required to address client needs
Experience / Education:
Minimum 5 – 7 years of work experience focused on working closely with Insurance companies and affiliated investment management subsidiaries
Expertise or strong understanding of Corporate & Investment Banking products/solutions
Strong credit background
Excellent written & verbal communication skills for internal and external communication
Strong executive functioning skills including organizing, coordinating, attention to detail and decision making
Should be self-motivated, ability to work independently as well as cohesively with colleagues
Bachelor’s equivalent required. Master’s and/or post graduate studies involving insurance risk management a plus.
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
