Senior Semiconductor IP Consultant

Lumenci is seeking a Senior Semiconductor IP Consultant to support high‑stakes patent litigation, IP strategy, and patent monetization for leading law firms and global technology companies. The role requires deep expertise in semiconductor systems and design, including SoC, ASIC, FPGA, microprocessors, process nodes (7nm/5nm), and industry standards such as JEDEC, IEEE, and PCIe.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic consulting to law firms and corporate clients.
  • Assess and analyze patent portfolios to uncover strengths, weaknesses, and monetization opportunities.
  • Offer expert insights on semiconductor industry trends, technical standards (JEDEC, IEEE, ISO), and their patent implications.
  • Work with cross‑functional teams to align IP strategy with business goals and technology roadmaps.

Semiconductor Industry Experience

  • In‑depth knowledge of processor architectures, memory technologies, analog/digital IC design, and semiconductor fabrication processes.
  • Experience with microprocessors, microcontrollers, ASIC/FPGA design, and system‑on‑chip (SoC) integration.
  • Hands‑on experience with semiconductor process nodes (7nm, 5nm, etc.) and foundry ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with DDR, PCIe, USB, MIPI, IEEE 802.11, and JEDEC semiconductor standards.
  • Proficiency in Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics, and semiconductor verification methodologies.

Strategic Consulting & Leadership

  • Lead and mentor teams conducting semiconductor technology research, IP analysis, and patent portfolio evaluations.
  • Communicate complex semiconductor concepts to legal teams, executives, and investors in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Provide strategic guidance to U.S.‑based clients, including industry experts, corporate counsel, CEOs, startup founders, and IP litigators.
  • Publish industry reports, whitepapers, and thought‑leadership content on emerging semiconductor and IP trends.
  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure alignment between IP strategy and business goals.
  • Cultivate relationships with key industry stakeholders to drive business impact and influence semiconductor innovation.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Expertise
    • Strong understanding of semiconductor architectures, digital/analog circuit design, and fabrication processes.
    • Experience with processor design, SoC development, and semiconductor IP licensing.
    • Deep knowledge of patent analysis, technical due diligence, and litigation support in the semiconductor domain.
    • Ability to assess patent infringement risks, licensing opportunities, and IP monetization strategies.
  • Consulting & Communication
    • Strong client management and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • Ability to explain highly technical semiconductor concepts to non‑technical professionals.
    • Proven experience advising executives, IP litigators, and corporate clients on semiconductor technology strategy.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication for technical reports and legal documents.
  • Leadership & Problem‑Solving
    • Strategic thinker with a problem‑solving mindset in high‑stakes, time‑sensitive projects.
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead junior team members.
    • Self‑starter with strong research and analytical skills to identify patent and business opportunities.

Education & Experience

  • B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications, or Electrical Engineering from premier institutions.
  • 7+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry, with expertise in chip design, verification, semiconductor fabrication, and IP strategy.
  • Experience in R&D, product development, or IP consulting within semiconductor companies or law firms is a plus.
  • Familiarity with patent litigation, licensing, and IP strategy is highly desirable.

Compensation & Pay Transparency

  • Expected total annual compensation range: $115,000–$155,000 USD (base + incentives).
  • Actual compensation will depend on skills, experience, and work location and may include additional incentive components.
