A well renowned heavy civil contractor is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead and evolve its preconstruction capability across a diverse infrastructure portfolio.
This is a senior leadership role , offering ownership of the estimating function and a direct line into executive decision-making. The business delivers complex, self-performed projects across bridges, structural concrete, water/wastewater, underground utilities, and large-scale civil works , with a strong backlog and consistent pipeline of negotiated and bid work.
The Role
- Provide strategic leadership of the estimating function across all pursuits
- Define and drive bid strategy, market positioning, and pursuit selection
- Oversee multiple high-value tenders simultaneously, ensuring commercial alignment and risk mitigation
- Partner closely with executive leadership and operations on go
o-go decisions and project selection - Lead pricing strategy on complex, multi-discipline projects, including structural concrete and heavy civil scopes
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing estimating team
- Establish best practices, processes, and consistency across preconstruction
- Engage directly with key clients, owners, and partners where required
- Ensure seamless transition from preconstruction into project delivery
Project Profile
- Heavy civil infrastructure across public and private sectors
- Core scopes include:
- Bridges and structural concrete
- Water and wastewater treatment facilities
- Underground utilities and drainage systems
- Earth retention and complex site development
- Typical project values ranging from $10M to $150M+
Candidate Profile
- 15–25+ years’ experience within heavy civil construction
- Currently operating at Lead / Chief Estimator level or a Senior Estimator ready to step into a top leadership role
- Strong technical background across structural concrete and civil infrastructure
- Demonstrated success leading bids on complex, multi-scope projects
- Proven ability to influence strategy and operate at both hands-on and executive levels
- Experience with major public works / DOT projects
- High level of commercial acumen and risk awareness
