The Patient Account Representative II is responsible for advanced accounts receivable follow‑up and resolution of complex insurance and patient billing issues. This role focuses on resolving aged accounts, researching payment discrepancies, managing payer denials, and ensuring timely reimbursement for services rendered. The representative works independently and serves as a resource to junior team members within the revenue cycle department.

Responsibilities

Conduct detailed follow‑up on complex and aged accounts receivable, including balances greater than 90–120 days.

Investigate and resolve claim denials, underpayments, and payer rejections.

Prepare and submit appeals with supporting documentation to insurance carriers.

Identify payer trends, denial patterns, or system issues and communicate findings to leadership.

Review explanation of benefits (EOBs) and payer remittance advice to ensure correct reimbursement.

Research and resolve credit balances, billing discrepancies, and payment variances.

Utilize payer portals, clearinghouses, and billing systems to determine claim status and take appropriate action.

Assist with training and mentoring Patient Account Representative I staff when needed.

Maintain accurate documentation of account activity in the billing system.

Support departmental goals related to AR reduction, denial management, and cash collections.

Ensure compliance with federal and state billing regulations and payer guidelines.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Three years of healthcare accounts receivable or medical billing experience.

Demonstrated knowledge of insurance claim follow‑up and denial management.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Ability to manage a high volume of accounts while meeting productivity standards.

Location : 1101 Samuel Wells Complex, Suite 1102, Jacksonville, FL 32216

Hours : Hybrid; Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
