Position: Director of Engineering

We’re seeking a full-time, staff Director of Engineering to join our Day & Zimmermann team.

Salary Range: $165,000 - $245,000 per year

The Director of Engineering is accountable for all engineering functions within Maintenance & Construction. Responsibilities include providing technical resources to support Business Development and operational needs, managing projects within engineering, and possessing broad project execution knowledge for EP and EPC projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Direct and manage the engineering office workload, ensuring sufficient EPC competencies and managing non-billable time and costs within the budget.
2. Oversee all engineering activities (cost, schedule, quality, utilization, recruiting) in assigned office/site, ensuring appropriate staffing.
3. Assist in business development, proposal preparation, and strategic planning. Maintain skills, certifications, and PE license matrix.
4. Drive innovation in engineering execution and technology, developing and recruiting subject matter experts.
5. Provide discipline, direction, and support for business needs, establishing and using standard procedures.

Required Skills:

• Broad engineering and design knowledge across disciplines.
• Project execution experience for EP and EPC projects.
• Effective communication skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience or 20+ years with PE registration.

Salary range in compliance with pay transparency laws: $163,680 - $245,520. Final offers vary based on experience and location.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage team performance, conduct appraisals, salary reviews, and recognition.
• Develop talent and leadership pipelines, oversee training programs, and foster an inclusive environment.

Additional Skills and Qualifications:

• Expertise in project execution, resource management, and communication.
• Deep understanding of chemical and process engineering principles.
• Experience with industry-standard software tools like Aspen HYSYS, CAESAR II, PV Elite, Primavera P6.
• BSCE or BSME from an ABET-accredited institution, 15+ years in process/chemical or mechanical engineering design, and relevant EPC project experience.
