Responsibilities
- Minimum 10 years work-related experience, 3-5 years Management experience
- Working knowledge of Lean methodologies
- Has good knowledge of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), SAE, and other over-the-road vehicle standards and specifications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective interaction with personnel at various levels within and outside the business
- Positive working attitude toward other employees; be a team player
- Develop and lead a team of engineers, designers, and technicians towards world class goals while converting specific customer requirements to robust engineering designs/packages
- Provides leadership and direction such that the engineering process is developed and executed similar to a production process, driving efficiencies in cycle time/lead time reduction and defect reduction
- Supports the Lean Organization while working closely with manufacturing, quality, and materials on product and process improvement initiatives
- Manages the total cost of the Bill of Materials
- Oversees the Development of all projects and initiatives including proposal/approval, budgeting, resourcing, milestone deliverables, reliability testing, prototype manufacturing and production launch
- Liaisons with Sales and Operations Management in the evaluation of new product offerings
- Drive product development through a strong understanding of the marketplace and competitive landscape

Qualifications
- 4 year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Master’s degree or Professional Engineering degrees desirable
- Technical knowledge of mechanical design and material specifications.
- Ability to operate a PC with Solid Works or similar software
- Additional certifications and training in Lean, Six Sigma, or other advanced degree programs desirable
- Ability to travel to other plants (North Carolina) and industry events
