We are currently expanding our fundraising efforts and seeking a passionate and driven Development Director to help build sustainable financial support for our concerts, educational initiatives, and long-term growth.
Position Overview
This is a commission-based, independent contractor (1099) position ideal for a self-motivated fundraiser who believes in the arts and is excited to grow with an emerging organization.
The Development Director will lead efforts in securing sponsorships, donations, and partnerships, and will play a key role in shaping the financial future of AEO.
Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue sponsorship opportunities with local businesses and organizations
- Cultivate relationships with individual donors and major gift prospects
- Develop and execute fundraising campaigns (events, online, direct outreach)
- Manage and grow donor database and communication pipelines
- Collaborate with leadership on fundraising strategy and goals
- Assist with grant research and applications (as applicable)
- Represent AEO in the Los Angeles community and at in-person events
Compensation Structure
- Commission-based pay on funds raised (percentage to be discussed based on experience)
- Performance-based incentives and bonus opportunities for major gifts or sponsorships
- Potential for future salaried position as the organization grows
Required Qualifications
- Must reside in the Los Angeles area and be available for local outreach and in-person meetings
- Proven experience in fundraising, development, or nonprofit advancement (required)
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Passion for music, arts, or community-based organizations
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing network of donors, sponsors, or community connections in Los Angeles
- Experience with donor management systems or CRM platforms
- Background in arts organizations or nonprofit fundraising
