Mechanical Design Drafter / Designer – Site 300 – National Security Engineering Division (NSED) – Full‑time, on‑site presence required. Job Summary

You will provide drafting and design support for mechanical apparatus, equipment, assemblies, components, facilities, utilities, and systems across diverse projects in PLS, SD, GS, accelerator technologies, high‑energy physics, and Energy. Responsibilities

Provide general mechanical or electro‑mechanical drafting and design support to lead designers and engineering staff. Translate requirements and constraints into detailed layouts, fabrication, and assembly drawings using CAD tools. Create moderately complex 3D CAD models of design concepts using PTC Creo 10. Develop detailed fabrication drawings, specifications, and documentation for all designs. Work independently on small projects or contribute to large team projects. Perform basic calculations to support technical work, analyze cost effectiveness, schedule, and materials. Interact productively with vendors, customers, and others outside the work unit. Maintain documentation in a configuration and management system (PTC Windchill PDMLink). Perform other duties as assigned. At the 534.3 level: Provide advanced design and drafting support, contribute to preliminary design concepts, estimate schedules and costs, prepare and present technical materials for design reviews, prepare procedures and documentation. Qualifications

U.S. citizenship required; ability to secure and maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance. Associate’s degree in Mechanical or Electro‑Mechanical Drafting or equivalent combination of education and experience. Intermediate knowledge of drafting standards, including ASME Y14.5M GDT. Experience developing design concepts across diverse sub‑disciplines. Intermediate understanding of design, function, fabrication processes, and packaging of mechanical hardware/systems. Experience reading and following engineering notes, sketches, drawings, specifications, and procedures. Intermediate knowledge of PTC Creo 10 CAD software. Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills. At the 534.3 level: Advanced knowledge of ASME Y14.5M, advanced mechanical and electrical design principles, ability to solve complex technical problems. Additional Desired Qualifications: Experience with SolidWorks; peer review of work; experience using PTC Windchill PDMLink or other database management software. Pay Range

$43.55–$63.97 per hour (Level 534.2: $43.55–$53.36; Level 534.3: $52.23–$63.97) Benefits

Site 300 – experimental test site operated by LLNL, located on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore. Security Clearance
