
Benefits Specialist

Job Summary:
Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan as well as monthly billing.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the benefits admin system to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
Knowledge of ACA rules and regulations
Assists with distribution of benefits enrollment materials and assists with eligibility.
Assists with employee enrollment with vendors and oversee life status changes.
Provides customer service support to internal and external customers. Assist employees with benefit issues (eligibility, enrollment, claims, billing etc).
Assist in the development and communication of benefits policies, open enrollment procedures and other necessary employee communication and presentations.
Knowledge of leave-of-absence and disability paperwork
Knowledge of 401(k) plan general operations and legal requirements.
Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Assists with the annual catch-up contribution enrollment.
Knowledge of annual 401k audits and prep work
Assists with the open enrollment process.
Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
Assists with implementation of new business
Maintains group benefit database to keep integrity of data
Coordinating activities and successfully completing regulatory tasks (i.e. 5500's, ACA and other notices/disclosures) throughout the year
Other duties may be assigned based on business needs or management’s request.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Proficiency to multi-task, follow-thru and follow-up.
Ability to work with sensitive data and maintain strict confidentiality.
Education and Experience:
Required:
Associates degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the education
Education - High School Diploma, bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience – 2-3 years in benefit / 401k administration
MUST HAVE BENEFITS AND 401K EXPERIENCE
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at a time.
