Purpose

Under direct supervision, provides sales and customer service activities primarily related to retail customers utilizing knowledge of sales techniques and industry knowledge.

Plans and paces own work efficiency in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related productivity goals.
Participates in coordinating and conducting customer workshops.
Handles and resolves simple customer complaints and forwards more complex issues to more senior staff for resolution.
Assists with store housekeeping, signage, stocking, inventory control, and other related activities.
Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
Other duties may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and six (6) months sales-related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Good verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrates strong detail orientation skills
Strong customer service skills
Knowledge of basic sales techniques, concepts and the ability to influence and persuade
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program
Knowledge of and ability to use motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment

Work Environment / Physical Activity

Subject to both typical office environment and outside locations with temperature and weather variations.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds.
Standing or walking for 80% of the day. Stooping and kneeling throughout the day.
Occasionally will use hand tools, saws, forklift, pallet jack to assist customers.
Reaching-extending the hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Actively engages in selling company products and services. Provides material take offs, estimates and pricing of large packages (e. g., decks, garages, millwork, kitchen, bath, doors, etc.). Enters orders into computer system.

Schedules the production and delivery of orders with store operations.

Uses customer calls as opportunities to provide information about features and benefits of company products and services and engages in researching, identifying and soliciting new customers and expanding business with current customers.

Troubleshoots order processing issues to ensure customer satisfaction and optimize sales opportunities. Identifies trends in customer satisfaction or dissatisfaction.

May participate in coordinating and conducting customer workshops.

Provides assistance to less experienced Inside Sales Representatives.

May assist with store housekeeping, signage, stocking, inventory control and other related activities.

Plans and paces own work efficiency in order to meet daily, weekly, project or team-related productivity goals.

Remains current on customer preferences, changes in local codes and product developments by attending in-house training sessions, vendor training or reading trade journals.

Purpose

Under direct supervision, represents the company providing sales and customer service at the customer's site; facilitates generating sales by gathering data for technical staff related to customer needs and design specifications and acting as company liaison. Accompanies more experienced Outside Sales Reps or Sales Manager on customer calls to become familiar with effective sales and customer service techniques.

As experience and knowledge levels increase, begins to represent the company during the sales process by collecting data on customer needs and design specifications and acting as an intermediary between inside technical/design staff, production staff and customer in developing sales proposals. In the learning phases, work is subject to review and approval by more senior level Outside Sales Rep or by Sales Manager.

Develops understanding of customer's needs and matches those needs with company products and services. Presents to customer's information on various products and services offered by the company.

Identifies potential customers and develops understanding how products and services will meet their needs. Pursues leads and gathers market intelligence on opportunities and competitors.

Develops sales presentations for current and prospective customers, subject to review and approval by Sales Manager or more senior Outside Sales Rep. Conducts sales presentations to provide customers clarification how the company can meet their specific requirements.

Prepares product quotes for customers.

Prepares required recurring and special reports, forms or other documentation.

Carries out other duties as assigned.
