
Data Entry Clerk

Our Houston-based client is seeking a detail-oriented Data Entry Clerk Payments to support customer payment processing and reconciliation activities. This role focuses on accurately posting payments, researching discrepancies, and supporting reporting and administrative functions under general supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately post assigned manual and electronic customer payments to accounts
Research check payments daily to identify correct customer accounts
Verify accuracy of payments, investigate discrepancies, and reconcile errors
Perform daily payment reconciliations
Resolve and report payment issues in a timely and accurate manner
Support special projects and ad hoc assignments as needed
Provide clerical and limited administrative support
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma with 5+ years of experience in a related functional area
Strong experience with payment processing, reconciliation, or account posting
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and enterprise systems such as PeopleSoft, Passport, Time, EERS, and mainframe applications
Experience developing customized reports using integrated systems and MS Office tools
Excellent organizational, analytical, and mathematical skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Positive, professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with power or utility companies
Experience working with customer billing or financial operations systems
