The Senior Marketing Manager, Public Relations is a connector, entrepreneurial driver of the business, skilled multitasker and aspiring brand leader. The position will be responsible for leading cross functional teams, guiding the CB2 brand narrative and driving innovative brand strategies into the marketplace. They serve as a liaison to media, influencers, and agency partners to promote brand awareness through product placements, editorial coverage, media partnerships, and events.
This is an on-site position (Monday through Thursday) based out of our Chicago, IL office with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.
A day in the life as a Senior Marketing Manager, Public Relations...
Brand Stewardship & Narrative: Act as a steward of the brand, ensuring CB2’s design-forward aesthetic and brand voice are articulated across earned media channels. Oversee the maintenance of all business messaging, company fact sheets, bios, and other corporate materials.
Strategic Planning & Execution: Lead the development, execution, and analysis of the annual strategic PR plan, including roadmaps and segment strategies to support the company’s aggressive growth agenda.
Media & Agency Management: Manage the external PR agency to create innovative publicity programs that increase quality awareness and positive perception of the brand and leadership. Serve as the primary point of contact for design trade media to secure deep-dive features around seasonal launches and collections.
Commerce & Performance PR: Collaborate with the performance marketing team to optimize affiliate PR strategies, ensuring CB2 products are featured in high-traffic gift guides, product roundups, and commerce-driven editorial.
Omni-Channel Communications: Manage all B2C and B2C public relations efforts, including communication plans, press releases, presentations, and trade engagements for interior design. Maintain and cultivate relationships with key media outlets.
Market Growth & Community Events: Lead cross-functional teams to develop store pre-opening plans and execute marketing strategies to successfully open stores and accelerate traffic in new markets. Generate local awareness through participation in significant community and social events.
Impact & Operations: Consult on community impact strategies, including charitable efforts and DEI initiatives. Lead and negotiate vendor and agency contracts, budgets, and timelines while collaborating with ecommerce, finance, legal, and merchandising teams.

Communication: Proficient writer and editor capable of supporting leadership-level speaking engagements and presentations.
Data Literacy: Ability to lead monthly data analysis and reporting, translating complex data into a concise narrative.
Strategic Execution: Ability to conceptualize big ideas and translate them into actionable plans, building consensus across all levels of the organization to achieve flawless execution.
Agility & Organization: Thrive in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions under tight deadlines with minimal direction. Strong organization and time management skills are essential.
Market Expertise: Maintain a high level of expertise regarding retail markets and industry trends

Years of Experience: 7+ years in PR, corporate communications, community engagement
Brand Background: Proven track record managing public relations for a leading brand and/or Fortune 500 company.
Media Relations: Strong background in media relations and experience coaching executives for press appearances.
Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher
