JOB OVERVIEW
The Assistant Production Manager (APM) provides high‑level support to the Director of Production (DoP) in the logistical advancement of productions and the management of seasonal personnel. This year‑round position is critical for bridging the gap between artistic planning and technical execution, particularly during the off‑season recruitment period.
REQUIREMENTS
Work closely with the DoP to provide comprehensive support for all production departments.
Assist in show advancement procedures, ensuring all technical requirements are anticipated before the production begins.
Assist shop heads and the DoP in interviewing and hiring seasonal production staff. Facilitate the onboarding process for all new hires.
Oversee production needs for off‑season events and coordinate with rental groups using theater spaces.
Draft and distribute contracts for seasonal staff once they are approved by the Director of Production.
Help create and distribute master contact sheets and detailed technical schedules for each production.
Maintain open lines of communication between the Production Management team and all production departments.
Attend production meetings and technical rehearsals as needed to ensure clear communication between designers and shop heads.
Maintain production department accounting by tracking expenses and credits, working with shop heads to keep accurate ledgers.
Provide the DoP with timely and up‑to‑date reports regarding production spending.
Provide safety materials and training to maintain a healthy work environment.
Other duties as assigned by Production Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Deep understanding of all aspects of technical theater and general knowledge of AEA and USA work rules.
Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
Exceptional leadership, time management, and the ability to remain calm under the pressure of technical rehearsals.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat.
Prior experience in theatre production management and a valid driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand/sit for extended periods of time.
