Director, Global Obesity Competitive Readiness and Strategy Lead

The Competitive Readiness and Strategy Lead will serve as the primary owner of portfolio-level competitive strategy across Pfizer’s global obesity franchise, owning the translation of competitive intelligence into prioritized strategic insights for Pfizer’s obesity portfolio and, together with Commercial product lead(s), ensuring sustained long-term differentiation across the portfolio. This role is accountable for translating external competitive insights across markets into clear strategic recommendations for both pipeline portfolio development and on-market commercial positioning. As Pfizer’s obesity portfolio progresses through late-stage development and early commercialization, this position plays a critical role in guiding cross‑functional strategic decision‑making within a rapidly evolving competitive landscape to enable optimal patient and business outcomes. The emphasis of the role is not simply on information synthesis or dissemination, but disciplined interpretation to connect the dots more broadly into clear implications for category strategy, portfolio choices, and asset‑level implications. Operating as a highly embedded member of the Obesity Global Commercial Development team, the role requires an experienced leader who operates with a high degree of independence and generates timely second and third‑order insights for the business. This role is expected to partner closely with CI and pull through their intelligence gathering into business implications. The role requires a “competitive business owner” mindset, who can converse across R&D, clinical development, BD, and commercial strategy and move fluidly between asset‑level depth and portfolio‑level perspective. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

External market competitive scanning in partnership with CI Partner closely with Pfizer Competitive Intelligence to develop competitive insights

across the global obesity landscape from a variety of sources (e.g., data readouts, press releases, investor briefings, monitoring sources) Partner with Pfizer CI to maintain an up‑to‑date database

across collected insights – organized by competitor, modalities, and development stage versus commercial Ensure a broader understanding of

evolutions in the global obesity market

(e.g., regulatory landscapes, reimbursement dynamics, clinical guidelines, pricing dynamics, and evolving policy trends) for the cross‑functional obesity team Translation of insights to strategic implications On a biweekly basis, synthesize high‑level themes and implications

(at the product and portfolio level)

from emerging insights

– distinguishing true signals from “noise” and prioritizing insights based on relevance Pressure‑test existing asset and portfolio strategies

against evolving competitive dynamics and implications to surface key gaps and/or opportunity areas to elevate to appropriate cross‑functional leads and/or broader franchise leadership Continuously reassess strategic implications

as new information becomes available Develop concise, executive‑ready materials

that clearly communicate prioritized competitive insights, key questions, and strategic implications for Pfizer Other commercial responsibilities

Contribute to the continuous improvement of competitive intelligence processes across the franchise Identify opportunities to improve cross‑functional visibility and decision‑making speed based on competitive insights and market events QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in business, science, public health, or a related discipline Advanced degree (Ph.D., MD, MBA) highly preferred Experience

8+ years of experience in marketing strategy, medical, product strategy, competitive intelligence, consulting, banking, or related roles within pharmaceutical or biotech organizations Excellent analytical and research skills, with the ability to efficiently process and synthesize large volumes of information under tight timelines Demonstrated ability to operate as a “jack‑of‑all‑trades,” with fluency across interpreting insights across R&D, commercial strategy, and BD Proven ability to synthesize complex information into clear strategic implications at both asset and portfolio levels Strong leadership skills with experience influencing strategy and decisions in matrixed, fast‑moving environments Excellent communication skills, with experience engaging senior leaders through concise, insight‑driven narratives High level of independence and prioritization skills, particularly when operating in the ambiguity of a rapidly changing market Deep understanding of pharmaceutical development, including fluency with clinical data and trial interpretation and translation of data/label into commercial strategies Industry experience in obesity, cardiometabolic disease, or adjacent therapeutic areas not required but is a plus Must be willing to travel to NYCHQ Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs and/or eligibility.
