Mechanical EIT/Coordinator

HDR is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) for our Building Engineering Services Business Group. Our team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural, and Site Civil Engineering. We focus on healthcare, science and technology, justice, power distribution, and transportation projects while also expanding our presence in commercial real‑estate, finance, hospitality, municipal, manufacturing/industrial, and federal sectors. Regardless of the market sector, we deliver high‑quality designs on time and set realistic expectations for our clients.

In the role of Mechanical EIT/Coordinator you’ll:

Conduct analyses to develop mechanical design options or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications.

Perform routine engineering assignments under instruction from the Project Engineer or Project Manager.

Work on projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.

Handle small projects or support senior engineers on larger projects.

Collaborate with Project Engineers, other Mechanical EITs, or technicians as needed.

Perform other duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in architectural engineering with Mechanical emphasis.

Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.

Candidates without an EIT will hold the title of “Coordinator” and be required to obtain their EIT for career progression.

Experience or interest in healthcare, science, technology, or civic facilities.

Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required.

Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.

Experience designing HVAC systems for building projects.

Proficiency in Revit.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software).
