Role Overview
We seek an enthusiastic, kind, and talented cook to join our team. You will be vital in preparing and serving meals, ensuring our residents receive nutritious and appetizing food. Your culinary skills will enhance our residents' quality of life in our independent senior living community. Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals according to the menu under the direction of the executive chef, ensuring all food is prepared safely and in accordance with sanitation standards. Maintain kitchen cleanliness and adhere to safety standards as directed by the executive chef. Assist residents who need help with their meals, ensuring they have a pleasant dining experience. Help with clean‑up, kitchen maintenance, and organizing the dining and kitchen areas. Take inventory of food and kitchen supplies, and assist with organizing weekly orders. Follow departmental procedures, including sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules. Report any health or well‑being concerns to the executive chef or executive director and maintain confidentiality of resident information. Serve meals with care and dignity and meet the nutritional needs of residents. Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications
Comfortable cooking and baking from scratch, as almost 90% of the menu is scratch‑made. Current Food Handler's Permit. Ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, supervisors, and associates. Proof of a recent TB test or obtain one within two weeks of hire. Positive attitude and commitment to delivering exceptional service. Willingness to work cooperatively with supervisors, assist co-workers, and demonstrate compassion and enthusiasm for working with older adults. Physical Requirements
You should be able to perform occasional heavy lifting (up to 40 lbs). Universal Precautions
While exposure to blood or bodily fluids is unlikely, it is possible.
