General Function The Commercial Senior Portfolio Manager is a key member of the "coverage team," managing transactions and the business portfolio. PMs are expected to be intimately involved in the deal process, making recommendations on suitable credit structures, pricing, and more. PMs are directly accountable for managing a portfolio of accounts through review of updated financial statements, proactive monitoring, and interaction with the Credit Analyst. They are responsible for risk management, openly exchanging ideas, elevating concerns, and following defined policies and procedures. PMs must always act in the best interest of customers and colleagues, ensuring behaviors drive a positive customer experience and deliver results within the Bank's risk appetite.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Accountable for managing a portfolio of accounts.
Review and recommend credit decisions.
Partner with the Relationship Manager to: meet with clients and participate in business development calls, assess prospective client viability for credit, define borrowers and guarantors, determine deal structure, credit terms and conditions, financial covenants, and collateral value.
Generate commitment letters.
Provide business partners with credit lending policy interpretation.
Perform final risk rating analysis.
Capture and document credit decisions, conditions, and modifications.
Collaborate with the Credit Analyst to perform portfolio management duties such as establishing and maintaining an Investor Group on the lender portal, monitoring actions, conducting periodic deal reviews, and executing decisions to renew or modify deals.
Communicate directly with clients regarding credit events and actions as needed.
Work independently to pitch complex deal structures.
Focus on continuous learning to keep up with changing market dynamics.
Serve as a subject‑matter expert and mentor to junior PMs and Credit Analysts.
Leverage expertise to provide partners with insights into the Bank's lines of business and related economics.
Supervisory Responsibilities Provide employees with timely, candid, and constructive performance feedback. Develop employees to their fullest potential, offer challenging opportunities that enhance career growth, and build an appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning. Recognize and reward employees for accomplishments.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required
Bachelor's degree in Business (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting).
At least 8 years of credit analysis and/or loan review experience in CRE credit/underwriting.
Highly proficient analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Professional presence (client‑facing).
Experience managing an advanced commercial client portfolio with great complexity.
Ability to partner with all deal stakeholders, including clients, relationship managers, and credit teams.
Expertise in financial and risk analysis, including financial modeling.
Demonstrated problem‑solving expertise.
Proficient with technology and ability to learn new applications.
Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, temperature variations, etc.
Extended screen viewing.
Some travel required.
Compensation Total Base Pay Range: $96,500.00 – $207,500.00 USD annually. The base salary reflects the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S.; individual salaries vary based on relevant skill set, experience, education, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, the role is eligible for incentive compensation based on company, line of business, and individual performance.
