Job Summary The Accounting Director is a senior management role responsible for overseeing and directing all accounting and auditing functions for Lampton-Love, Inc. This position ensures the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and the effectiveness of internal controls. The Accounting Director leads the accounting team, manages financial operations, and collaborates with internal and external partners to support the company's financial health and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage, and develop a team of Accountants, Accounting Specialists, and Internal Auditors.
Oversee and review all core accounting functions, including general ledger, fixed assets, inventory, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Manage and monitor company revenue, operational expenses, and all applicable taxes (sales & use, franchise, payroll).
Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records in compliance with GAAP.
Identify and properly account for transactions with complex or significant accounting implications.
Direct and complete monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
Prepare and present timely financial statements and reports.
Establish, maintain, and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and information.
Collaborate with other departments to communicate financial findings, issues, and recommendations.
Coordinate and support external audits, serving as the primary liaison with outside auditors.
Work closely with bankers, vendors, and other external partners.
Safeguard confidential financial and organizational information.
Utilize ERP systems effectively, with preference for SAP and/or Sage platforms.
Support mergers and acquisitions activities, including financial analysis and integration efforts.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited university required.
CPA certification required.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in public or private accounting preferred.
At least 5 years of experience in a controller or similar leadership role preferred.
Proven experience overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory, payroll, and internal audit functions.
Experience working with external auditors, bankers, and vendors.
Familiarity with ERP systems; SAP and/or Sage experience preferred.
Experience with mergers and acquisitions is a plus.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written).
Highly motivated, dependable, and able to work independently.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
High level of professionalism and integrity.
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
