
Receiving Specialist

Position Overview:
The Receiving Specialist is responsible for the safe and accurate receipt of incoming materials, ensuring all deliveries are verified against purchase orders and properly recorded in the ERP system. This role serves as a key link between suppliers, quality inspection, and production, supporting efficient material flow throughout the facility.
Essential Functions:
Safely unload incoming shipments using forklifts and other material handling equipment
Verify shipment documentation (packing slips, bills of lading) against purchase orders
Stage and organize received materials in designated receiving areas
Perform initial inspection of received materials to confirm:
Correct part numbers and descriptions
Accurate quantities
Visible condition of materials (damage, defects)
Identify and escalate discrepancies (shortages, overages, incorrect items, or damage)
Accurately process receipts in the ERP system in a timely manner
Ensure all inventory transactions reflect physical movement of materials
Maintain high data accuracy to support inventory integrity and traceability
Coordinate with Receiving Inspection to ensure required quality checks are completed
Ensure materials are properly staged for inspection and clearly identified
Support quarantine or hold processes for non-conforming materials
Deliver materials to production areas as needed
Support shop operations with material movement and replenishment
Maintain organized storage areas to ensure efficient access and flow
Qualifications:
Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification
Experience in warehouse, receiving, or material handling environment
Basic computer skills and familiarity with ERP systems
Ability to read and interpret purchase orders and shipping documents
Experience in manufacturing or industrial environment (preferred)
Knowledge of inventory control practices (preferred)
Experience with ERP systems (preferred)
Availability:
Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion.
Must be available and willing to work overtime as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
Safety Requirements :
Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others
Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the employer's safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.
Proper PPE, Steel Toes shoes, safety glasses etc.

Working Conditions:
Typical office environment with regular exposure to machine and fabrication shop environment
