Through our holistic, whole-child approach, we empower DC youth to transform not only their own lives but also the communities to which they belong. The Development & Communications Team supports the organization by leading external communications, thoughtful storytelling, fundraising, and event planning, as well as grant research and writing. Position Overview
Kid Power Inc. seeks a highly motivated and creative Social Media Intern with an interest in digital storytelling, trend-tracking, and youth development. This role is perfect for a "creator" who is passionate about capturing real-time moments and translating them into a compelling digital narrative. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to help guide our social presence while supporting a mission-driven organization. Responsibilities
Short-Form Video: Support the production of Reels, TikToks, and other short-form video content to showcase program impact and student success. On-Site Engagement: Attend Kid Power program sites 3 days per week to capture high-quality photos, videos, and interviews with students and staff. Graphic Design: Create visually striking social media posts and stories using Canva that engage our online community. Trend Monitoring: Stay up to date on current digital trends and propose innovative ways to increase engagement across all platforms. Media Management: Support marketing/media storage by organizing and labeling captured content for the organization’s digital archives. Qualifications
Strong eye for visual storytelling and experience in video editing and design tools (CapCut, Reels, Canva, etc.). Familiarity with social media platforms and an understanding of current digital trends. Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortability engaging with students and staff on-site. Organized, creative, and able to work independently to meet content deadlines. Benefits
