JOB SUMMARY
Develops, implements, and assesses advising, experiential learning, and recruiting initiatives for the scholarship programs. Manages day-to-day operations, advises and mentors students, and supports their academic, personal, and professional development. Coordinates recruitment, selection, and outreach efforts while fostering relationships with campus partners, alumni, parents, and external stakeholders. Contributes to Honors College strategic initiatives. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES
- Directs the scholarship advising program, meeting regularly with students to provide comprehensive and in-depth personal, academic, and professional advising. Evaluates existing activities and develops new advising initiatives. Assists students in identifying professional and academic development opportunities, including research, fellowships, scholarships, and internships. Monitors student well-being and provides guidance on appropriate on- and off-campus resources. Supervises program interns.
- Manages all aspects of day-to-day operations of the scholarship programs. Collaborates on program curriculum and leads academic and professional development seminars as appropriate. Develops, administers, evaluates, and innovates other experiential learning and engagement programs; develops initiatives to strengthen them such as workshops, retreats, orientation activities, welcome events, and faculty discussions. Co-leads at least one study-travel experience each year, with responsibility for budget and risk management and adherence to university policies and procedures. Directs all assessment for the scholarship programs.
- Serves as co-director of recruitment and selection for the scholarship programs, evaluating applications, serving on selection committee, managing all communication with prospective National Scholars, and coordinating pre- and post-selection recruiting efforts. Acts as primary operations director for Scholarship Programs Selection Weekend. Contributes to marketing and communication for the scholarship programs, including recruiting materials and promotional and informational documents for donors and supporters. Develops and grows alumni and parent programs, and maintains a database of scholarship programs alumni.
- Leads and/or contributes to Honors College initiatives aligning with professional expertise and college needs. Establishes, nurtures, and grows cross-campus relationships, as well as potential community and/or industry partnerships. Participates in the admissions process by reviewing and evaluating applications for first-year and continuing Honors College students. Represents the college on appropriate committees and with external constituents, including professional organizations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Education - Bachelor's Degree
- Work Experience - 1+ years in student services or related programs.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Education - Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, or related field.
- Work Experience - 3+ years in student services, scholarship programs, work with high-achieving students, or related field.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND BUDGET
- Job Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of theories and practices and ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises Student Workers only.
- Budgetary Responsibilities: No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
10% Stand for prolonged period; 60% Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period; 40% Walk or move about; 100% Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself; 100% Perceive, observe, clarity of vision.

Standard Hours: 37.5
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Expected Salary Range: $62,000.00 - $68,000.00
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Normal Operations. Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
