Position Overview

The Associate Director of Annual Fund is an integral part of a fast‑paced, collegial Development Office. The role is responsible for advancing the Annual Fund campaign, managing volunteers, preparing and distributing donor communications, and supporting major‑gift and leadership initiatives. Evening and weekend work may be required for special events. This position reports to the Director of Development.

Specific Responsibilities

Annual Fund

  • Help lead the Annual Fund campaign to meet the School’s fundraising goals.
  • Work closely with the Director of Development and the Development team to design strategy, messaging, and timelines.
  • Recruit, train, manage, and steward Annual Fund volunteers and plan donation‑and‑volunteer cultivation events.
  • Organize and produce all Annual Fund materials and communications, including written appeals and design of collateral.
  • Collaborate with the Database Manager to provide reports on Annual Fund performance, metrics, and year‑end tax receipts.
  • Coordinate the development calendar with fundraising events and initiatives.
  • Plan and execute all details of development events, including logistics, agenda, staffing, on‑site execution, and post‑event activities.

Major Gifts

  • Assist the Director of Development with planning and implementing major‑gift cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Assist with production and organization of major‑gift materials and communications.
  • Provide support for capital campaign donor research, reporting, and strategic planning.
  • Ensure each gift is credited correctly in the accounting system, noting ongoing pledges and reminders.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and staffing larger External Relations events as needed.
  • Participate in team projects such as large mailings.
  • Engage in External Relations and community events, forming relationships with employees and parents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Appreciation for and ability to clearly articulate the mission of Milken Community School.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and strong writing skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4–6 years of fundraising experience, preferably in education (front‑line fundraising required). Independent school or Jewish communal experience is a plus.
  • Strong aptitude for technology, including database, social media, and web‑based applications.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail, highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong self‑motivation and a team‑player mindset.
  • Enjoys problem‑solving, embraces flexibility, takes initiative, is a critical thinker, collaborator, and creative.
  • Highest integrity and commitment to confidentiality, diplomacy, discretion, and tact.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

Standard On‑Campus Hours

  • Start: Monday‑Friday by 8 AM
  • End: Monday‑Thursday 4 PM, Friday 3:00 PM
  • All schedules are subject to change.

Salary Range

$80,000 - $85,000
