
RRM - Director of Queens Street Maintenance

Responsibilities
The Director of Queens Street Maintenance will supervise Queens Borough operations and related improvement programs. The Director will be responsible for monitoring the productivity of the in‑house resurfacing and street maintenance forces and implementing quality assurance programs to enhance productivity goals. The Director will also monitor and evaluate the Borough’s infrastructure needs and plan the annual resurfacing and capital improvement programs. Duties include investigating, inspecting, and determining possible solutions to significant street maintenance problems in the Borough, preparing reports for the Executive Director of Operations and Executive Staff Personnel about work performed by in‑house field forces, monitoring and evaluating the performance of the capital milling and resurfacing crews, attending meetings with executive staff, citizens, elected officials, community board leaders, and other city agencies, and managing staff of supervisory, professional, technical, administrative and field operations personnel to ensure compliance with program targets and schedules.

Hours: 35 Hours Per Week
Minimum Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and five years of full‑time experience in an organization, in inspection, maintenance, construction or engineering work related to a large‑scale highway system; with at least 18 months in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity or supervising a staff engaged in performing the above type of work.
- A valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License and 18 months of supervisory, administrative, managerial or executive experience in civil engineering work related to highway construction or maintenance.
- A four‑year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and nine years of the experience described above; with at least 18 months of supervisory, administrative, managerial or executive experience as described above.
- Education and/or experience equivalent to any of the options above and at least 18 months of supervisory, administrative, managerial or executive experience.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
