Associate Director, Access Strategy

The Associate Director, Access Strategy will play a critical role in shaping and executing market access strategies in preparation for a potential product launch in the gout space. The Associate Director will ensure patients can access innovative therapy while driving business success in a complex and evolving payer landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive market access strategies to support a successful launch.
  • Assess payer landscape, coverage dynamics, and reimbursement pathways to inform strategy.
  • Develop value propositions tailored to national and regional payers.
  • Work closely with internal communications, pricing, policy, legal, health economics outcomes research, and payer accounts teams to ensure successful implementation of key initiatives.

Pre‑Launch Planning

  • Build and execute pre‑launch access plans, including pricing, contracting, and evidence strategy considerations.
  • Partner with HEOR, medical, and commercial teams to align on evidence generation priorities.
  • Anticipate access barriers and proactively develop mitigation strategies.

Payer & Stakeholder Insights

  • Generate and synthesize payer insights to inform brand strategy and decision‑making.
  • Monitor policy changes, competitive dynamics, and evolving reimbursement trends in the gout space.
  • Translate insights into actionable recommendations for senior leadership.

Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Serve as the access lead across cross‑functional teams including marketing, legal, medical affairs, HEOR, and field teams.
  • Lead without authority to drive alignment and execution across stakeholders.
  • Support development of field tools and resources (e.g., payer decks, access guides).

Launch Readiness

  • Drive key access milestones to ensure readiness for launch.
  • Support development of pricing and contracting strategies.
  • Partner with account teams to prepare for payer engagement.

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirements

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS).
  • Preferred: Master’s degree (MBA).

Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of five years combined experience in pharmaceutical marketing, market access marketing, market access strategy, consulting, managed care, or sales.
  • Understanding of the U.S. market access landscape and key access stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the legal and regulatory environment for pharmaceuticals/biopharmaceuticals.
  • Thorough understanding of pharmaceutical customer and industry marketing practices and trends.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, problem‑solving, analytical, critical thinking, and planning skills.
  • Comfort and confidence in working with diverse teams and backgrounds; actively seeks out diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Demonstrated understanding of healthcare trends and policy issues around pharmacy and medical benefits and their potential impact on the company's business opportunities.
  • Able to accommodate up to 20% travel.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Experience developing and implementing a brand marketing or access marketing strategy.
  • Managed care/payer marketing experience preferred.
  • Understanding of U.S. product pricing and contracting concepts.
  • Experience taking assets through pharmaceutical manufacturer internal review processes.
  • Access customer‑facing experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in buy‑and‑bill, specialty products, or reimbursement landscapes preferred.

The base salary range for this role is $150,000–$195,000. Each individual offer will be determined based on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, and location. Additionally, this role is eligible for both short‑term and long‑term bonuses, as outlined in the plan details.
