Fixed Operations Director

What You Will Do

  • Lead the overall strategy, direction, and performance of fixed operations, including service, parts, and other after‑sales functions.
  • Drive profitability, labor performance, parts performance, expense control, and operational efficiency across the department or multiple locations.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators including gross profit, effective labor rate, hours per repair order, technician productivity, technician proficiency, parts gross, absorption, CSI, and workflow efficiency.
  • Partner with dealership leadership to align fixed operations strategy with broader business objectives.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability to Service Managers, Parts Managers, Shop Foremen, and other fixed operations leaders.
  • Evaluate departmental performance trends and develop action plans to improve results, team effectiveness, and guest experience.
  • Ensure service and parts operations are structured to support a high level of customer retention, repeat business, and long‑term profitability.
  • Oversee forecasting, budgeting, and operational planning for fixed operations.
  • Review reporting and operational data regularly to identify risks, opportunities, and performance gaps.
  • Drive process discipline and consistency in repair order flow, dispatch, technician efficiency, parts inventory practices, warranty administration, and overall departmental execution.
  • Support hiring, talent development, succession planning, and performance management for fixed operations leadership and key team members.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, manufacturer standards, warranty requirements, and applicable legal or regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with variable operations and executive leadership to support overall dealership performance and a seamless guest experience.
  • Champion training and development initiatives to strengthen technical capability, leadership effectiveness, and operational excellence.

What We Are Looking For

  • Extensive fixed operations leadership experience in an automotive dealership environment.
  • Proven success leading service and parts operations with strong financial and operational results.
  • Strong understanding of dealership fixed operations metrics, reporting, forecasting, and performance drivers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead leaders, build accountability, and improve performance across teams.
  • Experience managing budgets, expenses, operational processes, and departmental profitability.
  • Strong working knowledge of service operations, parts operations, warranty processes, technician productivity, and customer retention strategies.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make sound business decisions based on operational and financial information.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to influence change, standardize processes, and drive results in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Professional demeanor and strong commitment to internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Proficiency with dealership management systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
