Overview

Director of Facilities & Maintenance – Wiscasset School Department

This is a full-time, senior administrative role reporting directly to the Superintendent of Schools. The Director oversees all buildings, grounds, and custodial/maintenance staff for the district (Pre-K through Grade 12).

Responsibilities

  • Managing and supervising all custodial and maintenance staff (hiring, scheduling, evaluations)
  • Overseeing building repairs, preventive maintenance, and upgrades across all district facilities
  • Handling HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Managing the departmental budget and vendor invoices
  • Maintaining safety compliance and supporting emergency preparedness
  • Coordinating snow removal and grounds upkeep

Qualifications

A high school diploma, supervisory experience, strong communication and organizational skills, a valid driver's license, and the physical ability to perform manual labor. Trade certifications (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and experience in an educational setting are preferred but not required.

Compensation

Salary based on experience, plus a full benefits package including health insurance and paid time off.
