HVAC Regional Director – Leading Teams, Achieving Results Across the Midwest

The Regional Director (RD) is the senior executive leader with full P&L responsibility for Multi-family HVAC operations across Indiana and Illiois (the “Mid-West Region”) . This role functions as a General Manager of the region and is accountable for financial performance, operational excellence, organic and inorganic growth, talent development, customer satisfaction, and safety/compliance.

The RD will lead multiple branch operations and management teams, ensuring consistent execution of company strategy while adapting to local market dynamics. This position requires a hands‑on, metrics‑driven leader with deep HVAC or mechanical services experience and a proven track record of scaling operations profitably.

Key Responsibilities

P&L and Financial Leadership

  • Own full P&L accountability for the MidWest region, including revenue growth, EBITDA, margin management, working capital, and cash flow
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring actual project margins meet or exceed the as sold project margins
  • Oversee and report on monthly job cost reviews and Total Project Cost (TPC) forecasts and risk mitigation planning
  • Develop and execute annual budgets, operating plans, and long‑range forecasts
  • Analyze financial and operational KPIs; implement corrective actions to exceed performance targets
  • Partner with corporate sales and finance leadership on pricing strategy, capital allocation, and ROI initiatives

Operational Excellence

  • Lead and optimize all regional HVAC operations, including preconstruction, installation, startup, and warranty
  • Enforce corporate processes while driving continuous improvement in productivity, quality, and cost control
  • Ensure consistent execution of safety, compliance, licensing, and regulatory requirements across both states
  • Drive best‑in‑class customer experience and service delivery

Growth and Market Expansion

  • Execute regional growth strategies, including organic growth and greenfield expansion
  • Identify and capitalize on market opportunities in within the multi‑family and hospitality HVAC segments
  • Build strong relationships with key customers, vendors, and strategic partners

Leadership and Talent Development

  • Build, lead, and develop high‑performing regional leadership teams (Sales, Preconstruction, Project Managers, Field Area Managers, and Superintendents)
  • Recruit, retain, and develop top talent; establish a strong performance culture with clear accountability
  • Coach Project Managers and Area Managers on financial acumen, operational discipline, and people management
  • Promote a culture of safety, integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Sales and Customer Focus

  • Partner with sales leadership to drive pipeline development, close rates, and margin growth
  • Ensure alignment between operations and sales to deliver profitable growth
  • Serve as an executive sponsor for key regional accounts and escalated customer matters to resolve issues and disputed items in the best interest of the company

Strategic Alignment and Reporting

  • Translate enterprise strategy into regional execution plans
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to executive leadership and ownership
  • Participate in strategic planning, and leadership forums

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in HVAC, mechanical services, construction services, or related trades
  • Proven experience with P&L responsibility in a multi‑location environment
  • Strong operational background with deep understanding of construction management and fixed price project execution
  • Demonstrated ability to scale operations, improve margins, and drive profitable growth
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret and act on financial data
  • Bachelor’s degree required (business, engineering, or related field preferred)

  • Experience in a private equity–backed or high‑growth environment
  • Multi‑state regional leadership experience
  • Exposure to M&A integration and operational turnarounds
  • Owner mindset with high accountability and servant leadership style
  • Strong communicator and influencer at all organizational levels

Compensation
