Job Summary
The Senior Communications Specialist serves as Enterprise Digital’s strategic communications owner—responsible for developing communication strategies, crafting key messages, and delivering high-impact communication materials with minimal oversight. This role leads communication planning across ED, partners directly with Senior leaders, and ensures alignment with Enterprise Digital strategy pillars, priorities, and culture. The Senior Specialist proactively identifies narrative opportunities, elevates storytelling across the department, and ensures consistency of voice, message discipline, and communication quality across all ED channels. This role is a critical partner in shaping how Enterprise Digital informs, inspires, and engages the broader organization.
Primary Responsibilities
Communications Strategy & Planning
Own the Enterprise Digital communications strategy across all channels.
Lead quarterly and annual communications planning cycles, ensuring alignment with ED priorities (End-to-End Processes, AI, Innovation, Digital Readiness).
Recommend improvements to communications approach, channel usage, and message cadence.
Present communication strategies and recommendations to leadership.
Message Development & Narrative Leadership
Independently develop key messages, communication plans, and storytelling frameworks for major ED initiatives.
Serve as primary writer for complex or high-visibility communications (e.g., leadership updates, strategic initiatives, innovation stories, digital transformation narratives).
Translate technical content (AI/ML, portfolio, data, change management) into accessible, compelling storytelling.
Content Creation & Ownership
Produce high-quality communication materials including: newsletters, NSN stories, enterprise updates, strategic department meeting content, executive talking points, project go-live announcements and narratives, digital transformation-related success stories, site/intranet content.
Maintain editorial standards and ensure message consistency across platforms.
Stakeholder & Leadership Engagement
Partner directly with Change Management and key stakeholders across Enterprise Digital to shape communication goals.
Provide counsel on messaging strategy, narrative framing, and change readiness communications.
Serve as a trusted communications advisor within Enterprise Digital.
Cross-Functional Alignment
Collaborate across Enterprise Digital teams to ensure integrated and aligned messaging.
Proactively surface themes and opportunities for cross-functional storytelling.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Business, or a related field.
Formal training or certification in change management preferred.
Experience
3–5+ years in corporate communications, internal communications, marketing communications, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience developing communication strategies, not just executing them.
Experience owning communications for enterprise or multi-stakeholder initiatives.
Proven ability to work directly with Senior leaders.
Skills
Ability to craft compelling stories from complex information.
Expertise in communication planning, channel strategy, and message development.
Ability to elevate communication quality and maintain consistency across the department.
Strong visual, written, and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to drive alignment across diverse subject areas and stakeholders.
Tools
Microsoft Suite (PP, Word, Outlook)
Comfortability in Microsoft Co Pilot or other generative AI tools
Poppulo and Canva (proficiency in other comparable tools is ok)
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Saint Louis, MO.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $29.50 - $29.50/hr.
