SCHEDULE
3:00pm – 6:30pm. Scheduling may vary due to closures. Some occasional special events will allow additional hours. This position is performance‑based and contingent on funding availability.

JOB SUMMARY
As a Graphic Design Mentor, you will lead teens in creating their own line of graphic t‑shirts, bags, and stickers. They'll learn to design a cohesive collection and gain hands‑on experience with screen printing, vinyl cutting, and design software. As part of our Youth Services Department’s vision, all staff will promote growth, leadership, and positive self‑image among all youth at Grand Street Settlement sites.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma required; College Degree Preferred
Passion for Graphic Design and a life‑long learner.
Experience mentoring or educating youth (especially teens 13‑19)
Experience working with Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), animation, and a good eye for design and visual arts
A problem solver and creative thinker who brings new ideas and is ready to execute them.
Previous experience with classroom instruction and/or facilitating lessons in a specialized field.
Very responsible, organized, and demonstrates positive communication skills.
Personable, energetic, & enthusiastic.
Must successfully complete NYSDOH Fingerprinting Screening and New York State Clearance Review Background Check.
Effective communication with all members.
Motivation of members while modeling professionalism, timeliness, and attendance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & OUTCOMES
Guide teens on creating and producing graphic designs on various textiles.
Encourage collaborative teamwork, creativity, and feedback sharing.
Build practical skills in screen printing and design software.
Desired Outcomes:
Teens finish with wearable pieces they can showcase and add to portfolios.
They learn to bring graphic design ideas to life and work effectively in a creative team.
Encourage innovation by integrating design and engineering principles.
Create a supply list for required program supplies.
Supervise all participants, especially during activities.
Ensure the safety of all participants.
Maintain space, equipment, tools, and program supplies in an organized and clean fashion.
Report all incidents/injuries/theft immediately to the Teen Tech Center Coordinator/Mentor Coordinator.
Assist with all aspects of programming (mission alignment, youth supervision, collaborative work, staff communication).
Take initiative to guide members through their projects.
Meet with the Teen Tech Center Coordinator/Mentor Coordinator to discuss progress and project updates.
Help reinforce all community agreements.
Other duties as assigned.
