The Parts Counterperson sells parts to all available customers, over the counter, through the shop, or on the phone. Essential duties include: Assisting walk-in customers in selecting required parts, suggesting companion requirements, offering specials, and ensuring that the customer is exposed to the full product line. Pulling purchased parts from stock. If the part is not in stock, determining availability and submitting an emergency order if requested by the customer or tech. Answering phone calls, providing price quotes and other information. Assisting outside sales reps with their orders. Setting up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up. Verifying WILL CALL and BACKORDER files weekly and returning to vendors, or stocking those items not required. Soliciting assigned accounts by phone. Assisting service technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs in process. Notifying the service desk and the customer that ordered parts have been received. Ensuring that before parts can be charged out, the technician presents a repair order. Displaying seasonal parts and accessories in an attractive manner. Keeping parts catalogs and price books current. Keeping all bins, aisles, and storage areas clean, neat, and clearly labeled. Being friendly, professional, and efficient when working with customers and co-workers. Providing the same high level of service to the other dealership departments as is given to other customers. Issuing credit slips for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice or its number is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified. Exceptions must be approved by the Parts Manager or Office Manager. When taking tax-exempt sales other than to a charge or cash account, ensuring that the customer's full name, address, fed ID #, and signature is obtained. Presenting the customer with the white copy of the invoice after removing the tear strip. Keeping front and rear counters clean and uncluttered. Replenishing assigned inventory daily. Requirements include: Advising Parts Manager when areas of the department are not in satisfactory condition. Keeping current on new products and product updates. Participating in all training programs that are made available. If customers pay by invoice, obtaining the following information: form of payment (if by check, include the check number). Amount of payment, date, and any change given and received by (your name). Keeping computer terminals clean. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. One year of experience in an automotive parts department. One year of sales experience. Professional personal appearance. Ability to work well with the public, sometimes with several customers at a time. Will be required to wear a dealership uniform at all times. Job requirements: Must be 21 years old or older. Must be able to pass a drug screening test. Must be able to pass a background screening check. Must have a valid Texas driver license.
