Position Summary
Health Admins is seeking a Director of Sales to drive growth by selling self-funded health plan solutions on a national scale. This individual will leverage existing broker and benefits consultant relationships to build a robust sales pipeline and close new business. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in self-funded benefits, a strong national broker network, and a proven track record of exceeding revenue targets.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to grow Health Admins' self-funded solution offerings nationally, with territory defined by existing and developing broker relationships.
Build, cultivate, and maintain strong relationships with brokers and benefits consultants across the country to generate new business opportunities.
Serve as a trusted advisor to brokers and prospective employer clients, educating them on the value of Health Admins' self-funded plans and Smart Healthcare Platform.
Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and proposal development through negotiation and close.
Collaborate with internal teams — including underwriting, operations, account management, and marketing — to deliver tailored solutions that meet client needs.
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes within the self-funded space to identify opportunities and refine go-to-market strategies.
Represent Health Admins at industry conferences, broker events, and networking functions.
Track and report on pipeline activity, sales forecasts, and performance metrics to senior leadership.
Contribute to the development of sales collateral, presentations, and RFP responses.
Qualifications
Required:
7+ years of sales experience in the employee benefits or health insurance industry, with a focus on self-funded solutions.
Established national relationships with brokers and benefits consultants.
Demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding sales quotas.
Strong understanding of self-funded plan design, stop-loss insurance, TPAs, and the broader employer-sponsored health plan landscape.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage a national territory with minimal oversight.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred:
Experience selling on behalf of a TPA or self-funded health plan administrator.
Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA).
Experience with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
