Job Description
Oversees the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring successful delivery of projects within the established timeline, budget, and quality parameters. Provides high-level leadership to project managers, setting strategic goals and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Directs the creation, review, and maintenance of documentation, including design review, commissioning, and problem‑solving papers. Directs the oversight of quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards. Leads strategic site walks and oversees the startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects. Addresses gaps in risk identification and mitigation, and communicates potential impacts to executive leadership. Directs the role of primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers. Oversees the selection, negotiation, and management of contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring contract compliance and performance, and that construction activities align with the approved design plans and specifications. Oversees the installation of power, cooling, networking, and structured cabling systems, ensuring adherence to quality standards and managing high‑impact installation resolutions.
Responsibilities
- Oversee construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring successful delivery within time, budget, and quality parameters.
- Develop, maintain, and oversee project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers for on‑time milestone achievement.
- Lead the creation, management, and optimization of project budgets, ensuring strategic resource allocation and cost‑efficiency throughout the project.
- Provide high‑level leadership to project managers, setting strategic goals and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Direct the creation, review, and maintenance of documentation, including design review, commissioning, and problem‑solving papers.
- Oversee quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards.
- Coordinate and integrate tenant fit‑out projects, developing strategies to enhance efficiency and collaboration during design, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Lead strategic site walks to ensure schedule adherence, coordination, and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee the startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects, ensuring all systems are operational and meet design specifications.
- Evaluate risk profiles associated with timely project delivery across a portfolio of projects.
- Address gaps in risk identification and mitigation, and communicate potential impacts to executive leadership.
- Develop and ensure execution of comprehensive mitigation strategies for major construction project risks to ensure overall project success.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers, ensuring clear and effective communication and integrative solutions across the organization.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships to support internal and external stakeholders at a senior level, driving organizational strategy and business objectives.
- Oversee the selection, negotiation, and management of contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring contract compliance and performance.
- Direct collaboration with design teams to ensure that construction activities align with the approved design plans and specifications.
- Provide high‑level colocation provider evaluation input for continuous improvement, driving organizational strategy and business objectives.
- Oversee the installation of power, cooling, networking, and structured cabling systems, ensuring adherence to quality standards and managing high‑impact installation resolutions.
Qualifications
- Experience in data center construction project management, preferably with colocation providers.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain project budgets and schedules.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide cross‑functional teams and shape project strategy.
- In-depth knowledge of design, commissioning, and quality control processes in large‑scale infrastructure projects.
- Excellent risk identification, mitigation planning, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience negotiating and managing contracts with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
- Ability to oversee complex technical installations including power, cooling, networking, and structured cabling.
- Certain US customer or client‑facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements such as immunization and occupational health mandates.
