The Director of People is responsible for the administration and management of the People Department functions. The Director of People will ensure the management of the Human Resource Department with a pro‑active approach and gracious attitude; effectively mentoring, coaching and developing the People Team and participating as a pro‑active business partner that is responsible for providing daily support of the Company’s objectives, mission and values.
Essential Functions
- Oversee recruitment, compensation/benefits, and employee/labor relations.
- Coach and advise management on all HR related issues.
- Develop and administer policies and programs that allow associates to maximize their contribution to the resort’s operations.
- Participate in strategic planning and budgeting activities.
- Provide leadership and employee relations support to all associates.
- Responsible for performance management and salary review process.
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state employment and labor laws.
- Translate business priorities into property Human Resources strategies, plans and actions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience actively serving in human resource management in a hotel/resort environment.
- Proficiency and experience in all HR processes: selection & employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits administration, employment law, workers’ compensation, and talent management.
- Strategic thinking and strong business acumen.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems. Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 5 hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day, which may include traveling to and from meetings. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and hearing occur continuously during communication with guests, supervisors and subordinates.
The pay scale for the Director of People - EC is from $142,000.00 to $185,000.00. The pay scale is the base salary or hourly wage range, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, gratuities, and the like, that Montage reasonably expects to pay for the position.
