Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, review, analyze and interpret contracts and legal documents of all types, providing clarification on legal language to stakeholders.
- Render legal advice to the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel and other members of PGA’s leadership on a variety of legal matters, including recommended courses of action and legal risks.
- Collaborate with PGA management to assess risk tolerance and devise techniques to align legal documents and policies with PGA’s risk mitigation strategies.
- Participate in the development of corporate policy positions and regulatory submissions; advise business areas on public‑policy implications of activities; represent PGA before regulatory agencies on legislative and regulatory matters.
- Work closely with the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel on all PGA Governance matters, including developing, interpreting, and administering governance policies and documents.
- Manage intellectual property matters, including preparing and filing trademark forms, executing cease‑and‑desist letters, and educating staff on trademark use.
- Advise PGA Sections on Code of Ethics violations, hearing procedures and constitution interpretation; advise members on Code of Ethics questions.
- Respond to subpoenas received by PGA.
- Guide PGA Sections on the use of outside counsel.
- Assist with management of litigation matters.
- Provide support on legally complex and sensitive issues and take leadership roles on projects and initiatives.
- Work with the People Team to provide guidance on employment law and policy issues.
- Manage outside counsel and coordinate internal requirements for counsel projects.
- Act as a strategic advisor to internal teams, building credibility and trust with non‑legal stakeholders.
- Work with CFO and Treasurer to analyze and recommend risk‑mitigation strategies, including reviewing insurance policies and limits.
- Keep abreast of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices, providing counseling and training to ensure compliance.
- Identify potential legal issues associated with current and prospective business processes and initiatives.
- Assist with preparation of the PGA Legal Team’s budget.

Financial Responsibility
Assist with the development of the annual budget.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate.
- Texas Bar admission preferred or ability to obtain admission.
- Six to eight years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably in transactional, corporate, or commercial law, M&A, or general corporate.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Law firm and in‑house legal experience preferred.
- Ability to draft and revise complex legal documents with sound business acumen.
- Strong cross‑functional collaboration and interpersonal dynamics.
- Strategic communication skills for persuasive presentations on controversial topics to the Board of Directors.
- Analytical interpretation and regulatory compliance knowledge.
- Working knowledge of Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Docs.
- Basic fluency in artificial intelligence tools and concepts.
Job Knowledge / Technology
- Expertise in drafting and revising complex legal documents.
- Understanding of cross‑functional collaboration and prioritization in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency in strategic communication to deliver persuasive presentations and respond to sensitive inquiries.
- Knowledge of analytical interpretation and regulatory compliance.
- Working knowledge of Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Docs.
- Basic fluency in AI tools and concepts.
Travel
Ability to travel up to 10%.
