Job Title: Vice President of Residential Lending
Reports To: Chief Lending Officer
JOB SUMMARY
The Vice President of Residential Lending is responsible for leading, overseeing, and continuously improving Skyward Credit Union’s residential lending operations while serving as a producing Mortgage Loan Originator. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for residential mortgage lending in partnership with the credit union’s CUSO, Members Mortgage Services, and is accountable for production growth, operational effectiveness, brand presence, and regulatory compliance.
The Vice President of Residential Lending represents Skyward Credit Union within the community and mortgage industry, develops and manages referral relationships, and leads the residential loan origination and business development team. This position balances leadership responsibilities with individual loan production and commission-based performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership and Operations
- Provide leadership and oversight of residential lending operations to ensure efficiency, quality, compliance, and a strong member experience
- Partner with Members Mortgage Services to optimize workflows and service levels
- Collaborate with the Chief Lending Officer to develop and execute strategies that drive residential mortgage and home equity lending growth while maintaining strong credit quality and risk discipline
- Monitor key performance indicators, production results, and pipeline performance to drive continuous improvement
Production and Business Development
- Serve as a producing Mortgage Loan Originator in accordance with Skyward Credit Union policies and applicable regulatory requirements
- Generate residential mortgage loan production and participate in commission-based compensation programs as applicable
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with real estate professionals, builders, financial planners, and other referral sources
- Represent Skyward Credit Union at industry and community events including Wichita Area Realtors Association, Wichita Area Builders Association, and similar organizations
- Promote Skyward Credit Union’s residential lending products, brand, and value proposition in the marketplace
Team Leadership and Development
- Directly supervise the residential lending staff, including loan originators and loan processors
- Recruit, develop, coach, and retain high performing lending team members
- Establish clear performance expectations, production goals, and accountability standards
- Support cross training and skill development to enhance staff capacity and member service
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure residential lending activities comply with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and credit union policies including SAFE Act and Regulation Z
- Collaborate with compliance, risk management, and quality control teams to address audits, examinations, and findings
- Promote ethical conduct, fair lending practices, and sound risk management across all residential lending activities
Brand Representation and Community Engagement
- Serve as a senior representative of Skyward Credit Union within the residential mortgage and home equity lending market
- Support marketing initiatives and outreach efforts that strengthen referral partnerships and brand visibility
- Enhance Skyward Credit Union’s reputation as a trusted residential lending partner
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field
- Seven years of experience in residential mortgage lending with progressive leadership responsibility
- Demonstrated success as a producing Mortgage Loan Originator
- Experience leading lending or business development teams preferred
- Strong knowledge of residential mortgage products, home equity lending, and regulatory requirements
- Experience working with or alongside a mortgage CUSO preferred
- Proven ability to develop referral relationships and drive production growth
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills
- High level of integrity and ethical standards
- NMLS licensure required or ability to obtain and maintain licensure

- Office based environment with frequent external meetings and community engagement
- Regular local travel for referral development and industry events
- Occasional evening or weekend work as required to support business development activities
