Randstad is seeking a Tax Manager or Director to spearhead the tax practice of a premier CPA firm in Salem, Virginia. This executive‑level leadership role offers the mandate to drive both the strategic vision and operational excellence of the department. As a key architect of the firm's success, you will deliver high‑level tax advisory services, manage an elite portfolio of clients, and serve as the definitive subject matter expert on individual and corporate tax reporting and strategies.

- Salary: $135,000 - 175,000 per year
- Work Hours: 9 to 5

Responsibilities
- The Manager/Director manages the tax department's workflow, ensuring that all engagements are staffed appropriately and deadlines are met with precision.
- This leader fosters a culture of continuous learning by supervising, training, and evaluating tax managers and staff, directly contributing to the firm's talent retention goals.
- The Manager/Director identifies and implements process improvements and new technologies to streamline tax preparation and planning workflows.
Technical Expertise & Advisory
- The Manager/Director performs the final, high‑level review of complex federal and state tax returns for diverse entities, including C‑Corps, S‑Corps, and multi‑state partnerships.
- Spearheads the design of comprehensive tax strategies for high‑net‑worth individuals and corporate clients, focusing on wealth preservation and liability minimization.
- The Manager/Director maintains an authoritative knowledge of evolving tax laws and communicates the implications of these changes to both the internal team and the firm's clientele.
Client & Business Management
- As a trusted advisor, the Manager/Director manages the firm's most significant client accounts, providing proactive, year‑round consulting and business advice.
- The Director represents clients before the IRS and state/local taxing authorities, managing audits and resolving complex controversy issues.
- This role supports the firm's growth by identifying new service opportunities and participating in the acquisition of new clients.
Qualifications
- An active CPA license is required
- 10+ years of public accounting experience, with a proven track record of leadership in a management or director‑level capacity.
- Demonstrate the ability to translate intricate tax concepts into clear, actionable advice for non‑technical stakeholders.
