Mechanical Estimator

Employer: Greython Construction LLC Job Title: Mechanical Estimator Location: Mystic, CT Job Duties: Analyze plans, specifications, and mechanical drawings to understand project scope and requirements. Prepare accurate estimates for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems, including internal or external labor, materials, and equipment. Perform precise takeoffs using digital tools to quantify mechanical components from design documents. Solicit, review, and compare bids from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and scope alignment. Leverage estimating software tools to streamline pricing and improve accuracy in the bidding process. Identify cost-saving alternatives and design optimizations that maintain performance and quality. Analyze potential risks and include appropriate contingencies to safeguard project budgets. Work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to clarify scope, resolve discrepancies, and align expectations. Communicate estimate details clearly to stakeholders, supporting decisions with data and rationale. Monitor market conditions, code changes, and emerging technologies to ensure estimates reflect current standards and innovations. This position allows 100% telecommuting from anywhere in the United States. The employee may work remotely from any location provided they maintain availability to travel to company headquarters in Mystic, Connecticut for internal meetings and coordination, and to various project locations nationwide for facility oversight, site evaluations, and project management responsibilities. Travel less than 10%. Limited to meet with internal staff and to project locations as needed. Requirements: Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and thirty-six (36) months of experience as a Cost Estimator. Will accept a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and sixty (60) months of experience as a Cost Estimator. Must possess three (3) years of experience in leading mechanical estimating for HVAC, plumbing, and fire-protection systems; working on projects exceeding $350 million; estimating new construction and renovation of institutional, commercial, and hospitality projects in the United States and Caribbean.
