Overview Gulf Coast News in Fort Myers, Florida is seeking an Executive Producer who thrives in a high-energy environment and is passionate about building exceptional newscasts and exceptional journalists. This is not a traditional local TV newsroom. We are one of the most creative and forward-leaning newsrooms in the country, and we are looking for a leader who embraces the challenge of crafting dynamic, engaging content every day for broadcast, mobile, and social media.
As Executive Producer, you will create and execute a vision for newscasts, lead producers through daily coverage decisions, and partner with the News Director to develop strategies that win on every platform. You must be calm under pressure, strong in breaking news, and committed to producing content that connects with viewers. Beyond the daily product, this role is about leadership and teaching. We are a newsroom that develops young talent, and we expect our leaders to be hands-on mentors who help staff grow, improve, and reach their potential. The right candidate is both an innovative content leader and an outstanding coach who is excited to shape the future of journalism. This position reports to the News Director.
Responsibilities
Oversight of the preparation of a rundown and scripts for the newscasts
Research, pitch, and gather enterprise news stories
Oversight of the use of all our graphics resources to enhance our presentation
Manage, coach, and motivate producers, reporters, and video journalists
Respond to breaking news
Oversight of digital response to breaking news and social media engagement
Write compelling news stories in active voice
Booth newscasts when needed
Post stories and video on station website and on mobile
Lead editorial meetings and pitch enterprise stories in editorial meetings
Perform administrative responsibilities including scheduling, performance reviews, training and providing important feedback.
Communicate with news staff, promotions, and production/engineering
Requirements
Three years producing experience
Have demonstrated experience in writing and be able to think visually
Coordinate several crews and responsibilities simultaneously
Summarize information into easy-to-understand components
Creative presentation style, and ability to showcase all resources and elements
Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
Adobe Premier editing system
Related military experience will be considered
