Major Responsibilities & Duties
- Responsible for the operational oversight and financial sustainability of the Department of Pharmacy at Boys Town National Research Hospital.
- Manages the formulary and coordinates drug purchases to ensure safety, quality, and optimal use of resources.
- Leads formulary product selection and evaluation, presents new clinical information to organization, and introduction and initiation of new formulary therapies and processes.
- Develops and manages systems to monitor medication orders to ensure safety, appropriateness, and formulary adherence.
- Develops and manages medication storage systems that ensure safety, accurate record‑keeping, regulatory adherence, and integrity of drug product.
- Develops and manages medication preparation and dispensing systems that ensure timeliness, safety, regulatory adherence, quality, and integrity of drug product.
- Participates in the development of and execution of strategic partnerships across cross functional teams ensuring the department maintains a leadership role in a rapidly developing and competitive market.
- Participates in developing and managing medication administration systems that ensure safety, accuracy, and regulatory adherence.
- Participates in developing and managing systems to document medication orders and administration that ensure safety, accuracy, regulatory adherence, and timely accessibility of information.
- Develops and manages systems to provide education regarding medication use to patients, families, and health professionals.
- Develops and manages systems to monitor medication therapy outcomes.
- Develops and manages systems to facilitate research.
- Participates in performance improvement, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, and other committee work.
- Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.
Required Qualifications
- Registered pharmacist who is a graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy with a current state license required.
- Minimum five years of pharmacy management experience in institutional practice is required.
- BLS certified within 90 days of transfer or hire required.
- Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification within 30 days of transfer or hire required.
