The practice offers extensive experience in estate, income, gift, and trust tax consulting and compliance; charitable giving and philanthropic foundations; executive compensation; and cash‑flow, retirement, and life insurance planning.
Job Summary
A Tax Senior Manager, Private Client Services (PCS) is responsible for utilizing educational background and professional experience to provide tax compliance and consulting services to our high‑net‑worth clients. The role requires strong communication, time‑management, leadership, technical, business development, and people skills.
Job Duties
- Manages tax and consulting engagements and identifies client needs, tax planning, and consulting opportunities.
- Provides executive presence as the primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions.
- Reviews complex individual, trust, estate, S‑Corp, foundation, partnership, and gift tax returns and provides written and verbal feedback.
- Directs communication with government agencies for matters of the highest complexity.
- Identifies technical issues, conducts advanced tax research, and develops recommendations for PCS leadership, clients, and advisors.
- Expands understanding of tax concepts through client engagements and current tax developments.
- Prioritizes and reviews work to keep engagements on track.
- Utilizes strong analytical, research, and critical‑thinking skills to assist with client needs regarding individual and business decisions.
- Assists with PCS/firm contribution responsibilities including billing, recruiting, attendance, and participation in CPE activities and training.
- Builds new relationships and maintains existing relationships with BDO professionals and external sources.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervises associates and senior associates on all projects.
- Reviews work prepared by associates and senior associates and provides review comments.
- Trains associates and seniors on current software tools.
- Acts as a career advisor to associates and senior associates.
- Schedules and manages workload of associates and senior associates.
- Provides verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associates.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics preferred.
- Master's in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
- Experience in private client services, prior supervisory experience, and public accounting preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant, IRS Enrolled Agent, attorney admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction, or equivalent designation required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat required.
- Experience with tax compliance process software (GoSystems, BNA Tax Planner, GoFileRoom, SurePrep) preferred.
- Experience with tax research tools (BNA Portfolio, CCH IntelliConnect, Checkpoint, Lexis Nexis) preferred.
Experience
- Seven (7) or more years of accounting, finance, or law experience required.
- Experience in the private client service area required.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
Software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with tax compliance process software preferred.
- Experience with tax research tools preferred.

Maryland: $150,000 - $180,000
Massachusetts: $150,000 - $206,000
Minnesota: $130,000 - $190,000
New Jersey: $155,000 - $200,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $190,000 - $225,000
Ohio: $125,000 - $200,000
Washington: $150,000 - $200,000
Washington DC: $162,000 - $190,000
