
Director of Tax

- Lead all U.S. federal, state, and local income/franchise tax compliance processes, including oversight of preparation, review, and filing..
- Manage the quarterly and annual tax provision process in accordance with ASC 740, including current and deferred tax calculations, rate reconciliation, uncertain tax positions, and related disclosures.
- Ensure timely and accurate tax account reconciliations and support for financial statement audits.
- Oversee estimated tax payments, extensions, and tax calendar management.
- Develop and implement U.S. tax planning strategies that align with the company’s business objectives.
- Evaluate tax implications of operational changes, supply chain decisions, legal entity structure, capital investments, mergers/acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
- Partner with leadership to identify tax-saving opportunities, credits, and incentives, including manufacturing-related incentives where applicable.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the business.
- Manage federal, state, and local tax examinations, notices, and inquiries.
- Maintain strong internal controls over tax processes and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and mitigate tax risks while maintaining appropriate documentation and support.
- Advise leadership on tax exposure, controversy matters, and potential financial statement impact.
Leadership & Process Improvement
- Lead, develop, and mentor internal tax staff, if applicable.
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and service providers.
- Drive continuous improvement in tax processes, systems, documentation, and automation.
- Establish and maintain tax policies, procedures, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 10+ years of progressive tax experience, including strong U.S. corporate tax experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state corporate income tax, ASC 740, and indirect taxes.
- Experience managing tax audits and working with external advisors.
- Proven leadership, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with ERP systems and tax software tools preferred.
